Fred Alber’s PageMiles for Hope 2021
OK… I am way late this year. Frankly I was a little tired of COVID this and virtual that… That is until last week.. I participated in the 25th Anniversary Ride For Hope which has only occurred a handful of times. This was a 440ish mile ride from Utica NY to Alexandria VA. where we were received at the NCMEC HQ. This ride was grueling in many ways, hot and hilly without most of the school stops along the way. The energy of a child is amazing and so inspiring.
I witnessed absolute grit and tenacity from every member of every team. Ultimately there was only one team. Team Hope!
During one of the interviews I gave it occurred to me how little is actually known about about the prevalence of child exploitation, trafficing, targeting and how kids are approached and groomed while in the safety of their own homes.
I met and rode with a woman who knows first hand how truly evil some “people” can be, having miraculously survived an abduction and assault by a monster that took the life of her younger sister. That woman is the leaving breathing embodiment of HOPE!
While I will always ride for Missing Children and their families the message of exploitation and the prevalence of online targeting must also be sent loud and clear.
This past week saw my NCMEC, Miles For Hope and RFMC batteries recharged in a big way.
I hope you will consider donating to this cause and helping me raise funding and awareness for these very serious issues.
